The Relation of Metacognition, Personality, and Foreign Language Performance

Metacognition is a significant predictor of learning and academic performance, including foreign-language performance. However, variations in metacognitive competence can be observed due to several factors, potentially personality. Analytic survey research methods were implemented examine the relation between metacognition personality traits their interaction with Data collected from 244 participants via Turkish Metacognitive Awareness Inventory, Basic Personality Traits records foreign language performance grades. Spearman's correlation multiple linear regression tests used for data analysis. Results confirmed that Conscientiousness, Openness Experience, Agreeableness explained 20% knowledge, 16% regulation was attributed Conscientiousness Experience. Compared other skills, it merely reading correlating knowledge regulation. On hand, use positively correlated Regression analyses identified only but not predicted performances. Extraversion Experience predictors These findings may suggest influences metacognition. Therefore, pedagogical implications reflect individual differences, especially when delivering instruction or training modules.
